THE NEW PARTNERSHIP FOR AFRICA’S DEVELOPMENT (NEPAD)

NEPAD is an integrated development programme plan that addresses the social, economic, political, and environmental problems of African countries.

NEPAD was adopted at the 37th summit of the AU in July, 2001. The NEPAD initiative is an attempt to develop a vision for Africa’s development by Africans themselves

 

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE NEPAD

The objectives of NEPAD are to:

        i.            To eradicate poverty from Africa

      ii.            To speed up the empowerment of women

    iii.            To stop the marginalization of Africa is the globalization process

     iv.            To place African countries, both individually and collectively on the path of sustainable growth and development
