1. Where a question asks you to give a word or phrase which means the same and can replace an underlined one in the passage,
Do not explain the meaning of the word as if you were compiling a dictionary. Just give the word or phrase.
Do not give more than one answer to any one word or phrase
2. Do not copy whole paragraphs for your answers.
3. Do not quote words or phrases’ or sentences from the passage without using quotation marks (inverted commas) where the question requires that you quote. Quote means quote so you must quote.
5. Never confuse part of speech (noun, verb adjective, adverb, preposition, pronoun etc.) With figure of speech (simile, metaphor, paradox, personification, oxymoron etc.) Remember also that literary device or literary technique is synonymous with figure of speech.
6. Do not write your answer in a different tense to a particular question in a different tense.
